THE REAL CHALLENGE IN HDD & MICROTUNNELING PROJECTS

During HDD and microtunneling operations, pipelines are exposed to extreme mechanical stresses that standard anticorrosion coatings are not designed to withstand:

  • coating damage during pulling operations
  • failures at weld joints
  • abrasion and impact caused by soil and borehole conditions
  • increased pulling forces due to high friction
  • unplanned repairs and equipment downtime
  • rejection at final inspection and commissioning

Mitigating these risks requires purpose-designed mechanical protection systems, not generic coatings.

OUR SOLUTION

EPC-S Mechanical Pipe Protection System

EPC-S is a fully engineered mechanical protection system developed specifically for HDD and tunneling applications.

The system consists of:

  • high-performance epoxy composite formulated for mechanical resistance
  • chemically treated fiberglass fabric ensuring structural reinforcement
  • smooth external finishing layer with reduced friction coefficient
  • controlled application procedures, in-plant or on-site

The EPC-S system is based on a patented composite protection concept, developed to address the mechanical stresses specific to HDD and trenchless installations.
